Meet the darling of the Rickshaw backpack family, the Sutro Backpack. In a happy accident, the Sutro was originally designed as one-off for our staff photographer but immediately became a hit at the factory and is now the favorite bag of Rickshaw staff and many a Rickshaw customer. Sleek, sturdy, and surprisingly spacious, the Sutro comes with padded shoulder straps, an expandable barrel, a built-in laptop sleeve and an useful side zipper for quick access to all those vital items that inevitably end up at the bottom of every bag. Each backpack is fully customizable and made to order in our San Francisco factory. So grab your Sutro, throw in your laptop and you’re ready to go!
Ever since I purchased a Sutro for my daughter (several years ago), I have wanted one for myself. I recently ordered a custom backpack and I love it so much. Both my daughter and I are frequently asked where we got our bags They seem to be coveted by all. We proudly carry them in Minnesota but they have been all around the country and beyond. Thanks for the great backpack! Great colors, great quality and really fast service.
I have had my Sutro (performance tweed ext./XPAC int.) for over four years now. I've used it on bike commutes through Minnesota winters, Colorado hailstorms, heat, mud spray, rain--everything Mother Nature can dish out. It still looks as good now as it did when I first got it. Honestly. This thing is really well put together. It single handedly restored my faith in the Made in America label.
As far as size goes it is more spacious than I expected. I've used it as a travel bag a couple times when discount airlines tried to gouge me for having anything more than a personal item. I was able to fit enough clothing and other items to set me up for 3-4 days of travel (granted I'm more of a minimalist). The front pocket is a little smaller but maximizes the space by not being crowded with all kinds of little organization doo-dads. It's just a couple little pockets.
I love this bag and would definitely recommend it.

Tucked away in your Rickshaw bag you'll fnd a tag with
our special heart symbol, the Rickshaw 'PCQ Tattoo'. This
little graphic gem represents three things that are near
and dear to all of us here at Rickshaw – Passion, Craft and
Quality. The heart represents our PASSION for bags, bikes
and our home city of San Francisco. The silver needle and
gold thread represent love for the age–old CRAFT of
making bags by hand. The five stars represent our
dedication to the highest standards of QUALITY. The five
stars also honor the constellation of our stakeholders –

little reminder of some of the important intangible

FABRICO ERGO SUM
I Make, Therefore I Am. Here at Rickshaw, we're proud of the fact that we make our bags in our own factory,
right here in San Francisco. We love designing, making and selling our own products. Our fans are people who
care about the story — the 'who, what, where, why and how' — behind the products they buy. They want to
know the maker — not just the marketer. They revel in the motivation and the method. We make what we sell
because it defines us. We do it because we can. We do it because we want to. And, we do it because it's fun!
We believe the soul, and the glory, is in the making. Thanks for supporting our passion.
