Finding a great messenger bag has been... a challenge. Having shopped online and in person for months, purchasing and returning multiple bags, Rickshaw's Commuter 2.0 Laptop Bag was finally the perfect bag.

Of course, this is all a matter of what you're looking for. Many messenger bags are essentially a pouch with velcro, more literally designed for bike messengers. Those that lean away from that tend to become very much a laptop sleeve with just a little extra room. I expect from a messenger bag what I expect from a backpack - room for more than a laptop and a pad of paper - room to throw books or miscellaneous items in. And pockets - not two small pockets - lots of pockets in a few shapes and sizes to organize a bit of "life". And I don't want to look like an I.T. guy nor do I want the bag to look like a purse. You would get all of these benefits from just about any backpack - but it's damn hard to find even half of these traits in a messenger bag.

I know everyone raves about Rickshaw's magnetic closure, but omg, once you use it for a few days you will not be able to comprehend why EVERYONE doesn't use that design. It's the most convenient and adaptable closure imaginable.

Not awkwardly big or small, freakishly customizable, kind of perfect. There are those few items that you become really attached to, and it didn't take long to become seriously attached to my Rickshaw bag.

I've gone through many bags over the years and this is the best one by far - a lightweight and efficient way to carry everything you need. The magnetic front flap is genius and makes for easy access when you don't really need to secure the bag.

It was almost a year ago now that I was on vacation from Southern California, and founding myself parked in front of the most peculiar store, "Rickshaw Bagworks". At the time I was with my mom and dad, on the way to eat at, Piccino. Something that you should know is that my dad loves using canvas bags instead of paper or plastic, so he decided to go in to see if he could find a cool canvas bag to use when he goes to Whole Foods. Earlier that day my family and I had found our selves at Tmbuk2, where my dad custom ordered a bag for himself, to carry his grading. At the time I thought that maybe I should order one for myself, I had a Timbuk2 for freshman year of high school and at the time I was going into my sophomore year, the Timbuk 2 bag did not fare to well over the course of the year. But while at the Timbuk2 store I did not see a single bag that fit me very well.

So that brings me back to when I entered Rickshaw Bag works for the first time. I still remember looking at all of the bags on the wall, and little things on the table in the center, while my mom was looking a a iPad zero messenger bag, which she then bought as her purse, right then. While I was looking around the commuter 2.1 messenger bag caught my eye, although at the time I thought that it might be a bit price for a school bag, since I had never had heard any thing about Rickshaw Bagworks. So at that point I left the store to walk over to Piccino for dinner. At dinner the bag came up, and well after dinner we headed back to the shop and I ordered the bag and had it shipped back to my house in Southern California.

I received it a few days before school stared, and the moment that I opened the box I knew that I had made a good choice to get that bag. So far it has gone with me every day to school Zero period to Seventh period PE, as well as a one week winter holiday back up to the Bay Area. And this summer it was my carry-on to the plane to Costa Rica, where I am on a month long language immersion program, where once again my bag has been my school bag, carrying a Spanish Dictionary, as well as several Moleskine notebooks, which by the way fit very well into the front pocket of the bag. Also on this trip I have taken the bag as my only luggage to the cloud forrest & Arenal Volcano. This past month has been the most trying on my bag, so far it has endured a cup of hot tea with cream and sugar spilling all over the front of it, which did not even leave a stain & and it has drenched by the rain here, but ever when it was raining on it I knew that my notes would be safe. I also is great on public transportation, as I have mostly ridden in buses here in San José, Costa Rica, it always just sits in my lap.

Through this past year my bag has been though a lot, but only shows one sign on wear and tear, and that is the two clips on the strap which connect it to the bag have worn down about 1mm or 2, other than that which of corse in not notice able in the slightest when you look at the bag it looks just the same as when I pulled it out of the box for the first time. I am looking forward to using it again for my junior year, which is a first since normally I wear though a bag a year.

Thank You Rickshaw for creating such an amazing bag! That is why I am sitting in my bedroom in Costa Rica at 11:30 typing this about how much I love this bag. I cannot wait to see where this bag takes me next year.

Stays comfortable and stable for a 25-block walk to work at top speed... or as close to top speed as you can get through Times Square.

Cons: Bulky

Thank you Rickshaw for putting up with my incessant pestering for the last 1.5 months as I've been impatiently waiting to receive my pre-ordered Graphite Tweed Commuter (something that really shows their devotion to customer service).

The bag is everything I wanted: very spacious and comfortable and lightweight considering its storage space. The build quality is extraordinary and lives up to the hype I've heard about Rickshaw products. The only con is that the bag is a little bulkier than I expected, but this is something that's to be expected considering its solid structure (something I bought the bag for). Overall great product! The fabric is very attractive and was worth the wait.
